Travel Tip #1: Make a List

Planning a trip for a year comes with all kinds of challenges. As I continue to prepare, and actually get out there, I will share any advice, tips, and tricks I come across in the hopes that they can help some else in their planning. I am by no means an expert, but feel free to ask me any questions, and I will try and answer them to the best of my knowledge!

Without further ado…my first travel tip:

Make a List!

I live and die by lists and when it comes to planning a trip of this magnitude where you are taking a career break for a year, a list is a mto doust.  Start at the very highest level, so as to not overwhelm yourself right off the bat.  If you go into the weeds too quickly, you will quit before you even start.  So, look at the largest items you would need to take care of or deal with in order to be able to make a RTW trip possible.  For me this included money and how to save (winning the lottery was my first plan), what to do with my house (rent/sell), and how I would be able to leave my best buddy (my dog).  These might not exactly be your biggest concerns, but whatever they are, write them down.  Once you have them on paper you can start formulating plans and ideas on how to accomplish them and strategize realistic timelines.  Trips like this take a lot of planning and don’t happen overnight, but everyone has to start somewhere!

Hi Gloria! I am so glad Dash shared this with you and you will be following my journey. List making must truly be in our genes! I have less than 5 weeks until I leave and lots to get done, so needless to say, I have a lot of lists going at the moment! Thanks for all your support!!
